Meet Kristin!

With everything going on in our world today, it is easy to understand how you and your loved ones may be struggling with depression, anxiety, adjustment and countless other issues.  You don’t have to fight the battle alone.  I hope to walk along side you in your journey of healing and empowerment.  In our work together, we will explore opportunities to reach your personal, professional, and parenting goals and work in a collaborative partnership to progress towards a happy and fulfilling life.

I use a variety of counseling theories and approaches to help each client achieve individual goals and fulfill their needs. I see counseling as a process of fostering hope and support to enhance intrinsic motivation for change. By focusing on meeting you exactly where you are in your life, I can help you facilitate your individual journey towards growth. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to focus on the relationship between your thoughts and emotions so you can begin changing your thought processes and better manage your emotions. Through therapy, you can discover unhealthy thought patterns and beliefs and work toward replacing them with healthier alternatives. Further exploring (and perhaps changing) these unhealthy thoughts and beliefs can achieve progress and change. I believe therapy is a collaborative process in which you and I are working together toward a common goal.

I love working with children! As a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), I most frequently utilize Child Centered Play Therapy as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my work with children ages 4-12. Play is a child’s language. By using toys, sand trays, art and other creative expressive techniques children are able to express themselves, problem solve, experiment and gain self-confidence and mastery in day-to-day activities.

Meet Tripp!

Canine Assisted Play Therapy (CAPT)

Another passion I have is using Canine Assisted Play Therapy (CAPT) in my work. Along with Tripp, my Therapy Dog, I teach children social skills, appropriate empathetic responses, responsibility for self and stress reduction skills. The unconditional love and acceptance Tripp brings to the playroom improves the therapeutic relationship and assists in fostering desired changes.
